The 1940s brought a major design innovation: the introduction of the six-panel cap with a structured, curved brim. This version was first made for sports. It quickly became a popular streetwear accessory as well as a casual fashion accessory.

Today’s baseball caps are crafted with precision. Most designers construct them from six fabric panels, a fabric-covered button on top, and ventilation eyelets for breathability. The brims—often reinforced with plastic or paperboard—help maintain the shape and provide durability.
